Passage

The distant drummer pays no heed
To what we want or what we need
He hammers out the beat of Fate
Sounding Karma soon or late
We leave our tracks in timeless dust
Which fade away as all things must
Our loves, our joys, our laughs, our tears
Disappear like bygone years
The thing you love, from dawn 'til dawn
In just a twinkling, will be gone
And though its far beyond your sight
It glows and glows by starry light
Nothing stays that will not turn
Nothing drowns that will not burn
No one lives that does not yearn
No one loves that does not learn
