heat
The august sun is a hammer
Swinging through the sky,
White hot heat that radiates
To blind my mental eye,
I jog along in confidence
My power will not sway,
This burning is my cinema
My sweat will pay my way,
The road is hot but draws me on,
My legs are tempered steel,
Other runners see and smile
And know just what I feel.
August 2000 96 degrees in Texas
Swinging through the sky,
White hot heat that radiates
To blind my mental eye,
I jog along in confidence
My power will not sway,
This burning is my cinema
My sweat will pay my way,
The road is hot but draws me on,
My legs are tempered steel,
Other runners see and smile
And know just what I feel.
