The Whale King
thirty-thousand feet above
the long Pacific swells
high above the cobalt sea
wherein the Whale King dwells
i soar above his vast estate
and long to see his face
but he is deep in solitude
in his eternal place
i gaze across his silent home
and wonder of his wants
i think he only searches peace
in long Pacific jaunts
he dives and glides
like some great bird
and thinks. . . and thinks. . .
but never ever will be heard
in flight to Japan
