Tides of life

'tis but a thing of gaucherie
to think you ride forever
upon the same wave;
for the waves are but
playthings for the moon,
and the moon appears
each day at a different time,
and each wave
is unlike the ones
before and after,
it matters not,
for all ultimately end
in a sigh of foam
at the edge of the earth. . .
