Kilgore to Longview
joyous morning
of a warm winter day
under charcoal skies
now tinged by gray
i feel discomfort
will soon disappear
then into this time
of a smooth rolling year
I imagine myself
in high soaring flight
tethered only by will
held in a grip ever tight
the rambling road
is a ribbon of blue
and the sky is collapsing
i believe into you
heroes ahead of me
and runners below
and how has time gone
and how will it now go.
