Marathonia

the time has come to train,
for those who seek the Marathon,
that experience of will and strength,
that mighty race. that Paragon.

start out slowly build your power
it does not come by speed,
only by your heart and soul
and your burning need.

you jog six days a week,
slowly adding miles,
your family thinks you've lost it
so show them your best smiles.

five days you run six miles
and twenty on a Sunday,
one day a week for R and R,
rest and cookies during Monday.

if you don't train, the Marathon
is farther than the moon,
but if you follow all the rules
that Medal you may festoon.
