of glory

in the morning of my glory
when i see my sun come up
call the people over
let them fill their cup

in the morning of my glory
when i'm on my secret road
call the people over
the ones that know the code

in the morning of my glory
when its clear my time has come
call the people over
the ones who sing and strum

in the morning of my glory
when my fire's gone up in smoke
call the people over
the ones who toke and joke

Bindersnitch

a bindersnitch is short and tall
he's bad but very nice
he lives beneath the broiling sun
amid the snow and ice

he's very thin and terribly fat
he's bald and has much hair
hestays locked up inside his cage
but you won't find him there

Humanum Plasticus

they hear but
seldom understand
they look but
seldom lend a hand
they know but
seldom ever cope
they smile but
seldom ever hope
they leap but
seldom ever look
they crawl but
seldom ever creep
they run but
seldom ever sleep

a hawk will never
be a dove

a hand that takes
will often shove

". . . ..all's a stage."

i wish i knew how
to read your mind
but i think i'd hate
what i would find

backyard secrets
buried deep
and funny money
in a heap

you always said
you didn't care
you'd get by
someway, somewhere

the last train out
would not depart
until you fired
your final shot

Keepsake unrevealed

for reasons unexplored
more regions deep away
and yet passed swiftly
with ne'er a dawning day
nor e'en a nod goodbye

past pretense set aside
so many years ago
and oft begun again
but ne'er a face to show
or give me half a smile

three alamo twist with a side of frijoles

ah was feelin' kinda sickly
ah was feelin' kinda bent
so ah axed some folks about it
and this is how it went
ah looked up my old doctah
he axed whats your complaint?
ah said it isn't what Ah am
ah thinks its what i ain't
ah sat down on his table
and he tapped my boney knees
he said the problems in your head
gimme forty dollahs please
so ah checked in at the clinic
for some psychiatric care
ah told them what my name was
and ah offered up a prayer
they sent me to a doctah
who had a shaggy beard
he said his name was Doctah Fraud
now ain't that kinda weird?
he axed if ah was paranoid
or maybe schizophrenic
ah said sometimes ah got morose
even when its scenic
he looked at me with baleful eyes
and then ah heard him say
the illness that you're sufferin' from
is known as mind decay
it comes from wantin' somethin'
thats never close at hand
like minutes in an hourglass
thats emptied of its sand
or years that passed in silence
like a frozen Wonderland

Toomuch

things around me
won't go away

all remind me
everyday

all the things
we used to do

no one else
but me and you

things i see
done in your style

at some i stare
at some i smile

everthing
i feel or touch

seems to say
its much too much

Seventy-five and still alive

i didn't sleep too well last night
my mood was all a flutter
too many thoughts were on my mind
too many words to utter
a wise man told me long ago
these words of so much wisdom
remember this, my son, he said
worrys are too cumbersome

"never dwell on things gone by
for all who live must some day die
live for today and not the 'morrow
for time is all we can not borrow"

but still i think of lines i've wrote
and pictures i have made
those things enlarge my happy soul
as mem'rys on parade
when i view them i recall
the loves i've had and lost
beauties all they still remain
priceless times at any cost

. . .Fear the Gronkin . . . .

. . .fear the Gronkin
if they come. . . .
in tumbling swarthes
of geelish snave,
or harring prathers dressed to kill
in reenirwealing orkhs;
. . . fear the Gronkin
if they come. . . .
from over sleething green,
when undergraping sous,
braced for trenchen
regullerized in stamman
walls of geever,
. . .fear the Gronkin
if they come. . . .
in snarling frathes
of siskim kind
pressed by withers,
craven schlapes of Zar.

. . .fear the Gronkin
if they come. . . .
i guess by now you know , , , ,
