wild, wild horses

                                     en masse they run .   .   .  .   .   .   2013

clouds

darkly
in a garden
a hidden snake doth lay

starkly
in my mem'ry
a liar low doth stay

quickly
from my mindset
my thoughts must now make sail

slickly
from my teardrops
i learn  or else i fail

Zoftig woman

livin' with life

i'm thinkin' i'm 'goin'
from yesterday's hero
to the fool of today
from the kingdom of winners
to the clown in dismay
i think i'm understandin'
more than i need to know
afraid my understandin'
is maybe startin' to show
it takes a heap o'doin'
to see a thing clear through
its never very easy
doin'what you gotta do

The nuppies

. . . a nurp of nuppies
stood their ground'
their teeth were long,
their eyes were round,
casting glances very furtive
trying hard to be assertive.

holding on with
tooth and claw,
each possessed a
cavernous maw,
a fearsome threat
from a whiskered snout,
of their open snarling clout.

nasty nuppies
muttering pack,
sleathing all
and back to back,
pass them fast,
before they know
that i am close
to their tableau . . .

The Sailor of the Sun

river

now is an instant
a moment to be
time is a river
swim it with me
float with the current
when flood is at hand
rest in the shallows when the sun
burns the land

Harold Wambatt

When Harold decided to let his facial hair
grow he began to look more like a wombat
                                     everyday.
It was unfortunate about his last name.

Prince of Omens

the midnight walker will not fail
who writes and think in classic braille
mirrored lightning out of sight
falling in a hero's flight
you move around in footloose tracks
you live in timeless zodiacs

midnight walker standing there
deep inside your conscious lair
saying that you're tightly vexed
all your mental muscles flexed
sending out electric waves
to kings and paupers, fools and knaves

midnight walker do you lie?
is nothing new beneath the sky?
how to face humanity
and still retain your sanity
so all i've ever asked of you
is when and what i oughtta do

midnight walker got my sign
got my glow and got my shine
you stay inside your mortal maze
you dwell beyond horizons haze
your winks are what becomes the night
your nods turn darkness into light

midnight walker stole the moon
stashed it in a pale cocoon
worried people on the street
know their stroke is incomplete
you have no pity or restraint
you smile at them and then they faint
