The Day of the Groundhog

the day of the groundhog is not about groundhogs
it is about covert behavior
incognition
cryptic commentary
lost upon the populace
who receive the message
in puzzlement then cast it out
in deep confusion
it is in regard to obscurity
to camoflauge
to a psychoanalytic
defense mechanism
known to some
but practiced by a few
it is of the hider
the mantle of disguise
the lurking of the burrower.

Meditation

just below the edge
of the contemplative plane
there's a place of freedom
neither morn nor evening
a place where no one is
there is a view
but not of darkening or bright
or of the pale
only colors all
of but the softest hue
and sounds of life
are blunted
by the bluest  blue

Three haikus

rain, the tears of God
the meaning of life to plants
falls, then disappears

spirit winds lie low
windfingers rustle the leaves
old stones stand still

love is a heartbreak
that feeds our changing egos
the lion eats the lamb

On Patience

patience is that time between chaos and calm

patience is that thread that connects sanity and insanity

patience is that valuable time between doing a thing right or making an error

patience is taking time to think

patience is emptying your mind of trouble until nothing remains

patience must be ones most prized possession
