On seeing a snake

a sudden swerve
and coiling curl
that slinking snake
so slight and sleek
so sly and sneaky
in shiny colored skin
she slithered  back
then uncoiled 
and swiftly slid away. . . .

Time tells

ten times never

days have flown away

an ordinary promise

standing in the fray

turning pages

of my simple book

wishing some way

i didn't have to look

telling people 

what they want to hear

knowing always

i'll only disappear

standing darkly

just inside the shade

knowing always

everything will fade

just a minute

and i'll be gone away

nothing matters

everything's passe
